Most (63%) already report on sustainability and a further 25% plan to in the coming 12 months.

The year 2020 / 2021 was largely affected by the coronavirus (Covid-19) in the Netherlands and around the world. Increased attention to supporting people with their work-from-home situation, measures focused on the safety of our people in the offices and tighter monitoring of working-capital management continued to be relevant. This period was characterised by continued uncertainty, which influenced choices based on detailed scenarios. It was also characterised by the first period of our One24 long-term strategy. We defined a number of important themes and objectives together, and started working on those:

Our role in society is more relevant than ever. There is a lot of public attention and what we do really matters. As a sector and also as Mazars, we are taking positive steps to secure the quality-oriented culture that is necessary to be able to continue to implement our quality vision. In 2021, we continued to take tangible steps to shift from a knowledge-intensive to an education-driven model: we are building a school of excellence by offering a range of training programmes to our teams - and to clients - on a variety of business-critical topics. We continually invest in our quality management systems and processes to design and implement the new International Standards for Quality Management and to embed quality in everything we do.

Our Group Independence and Acceptance Committee is responsible for oversight of independence and acceptance for the business worldwide. We invest in IT solutions such as WeCheck, our global tool designed for conflict management to protect our independence across our international teams.

Our values guide us to do what is right. Our global code of conduct serves as a moral compass for our daily activities. In addition, we have developed a code of conduct for objectivity and independence (CCOI) which complies with the Code of International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants. These codes of conducts are integral parts of all member firms’ professional training programmes.
