Kate Moore
Corporate Finance
I grew up in Dublin and went to school in Rathfarnham. I went on to study at UCD where I pursued a course in Business and Law. During my time in college, I had the opportunity to intern at a 'Big-4' firm in their Financial Services Tax department and also at a wealth management firm in their Corporate Finance Department. These internships provided invaluable hands-on experience and deepened my understanding of the working world and the financial services industry. I joined the Forvis Mazars graduate programme in October 2023 in the Deal Advisory department. I'm currently pursuing my CFA exams.

Tell us a bit about your background before Forvis Mazars
I chose a career in Corporate Finance because I'm fascinated by understanding how businesses grow and the strategy behind that. M&A work is quite broad, from financial analysis, strategic planning and negotiation to client interaction. It's across lots of sectors too. I wanted to help businesses with complex transactions that shape their future and add value.
Forvis Mazars stood out to me as it has a reputation for having a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages innovation. I was drawn to the opportunity to contribute to a firm that makes an impact and values its people and clients. Also, Forvis Mazars has a global presence and a huge mix of clients, so I knew I would have the opportunity to work on great transactions.
What made you choose your current career and what appealed to you about Forvis Mazars?
My friends and family have been a huge influence in my life. They have supported and encouraged me throughout my personal and academic journeys. My family has provided me with guidance throughout daily life and the bigger milestones. Their values of perseverance and kindness have shaped my character and driven me to pursue my goals. Friends from school and college, although we are all on different paths now, continue to be a huge influence in my life. They have been integral in shaping me into who I am today and no doubt will continue to do so into the future.
Who or what has been the biggest influence on you growing up?
I found the first few months of the graduate programme to be one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences. Transitioning from college into the fast-paced world of M&A demanded quick adaptation and learning. Navigating complex financial models, understanding market trends and collaborating with clients pushed me out of my comfort zone daily. Despite the steep learning curve, each challenge presented an opportunity to grow professionally. Overcoming these initial hurdles strengthened my confidence and laid a solid foundation for my career in finance.
How were the first few months of our graduate programme?
I'm only a short Luas ride away from Forvis Mazars. I usually get into the office just before 9:00am and will work on various projects throughout the day. I have meetings with clients to go through the next steps in the project and how to achieve the desired results. I work on financial models, information memorandums, buyers lists and other documents used in the sell-side process. I would typically spend lunchtime with the graduates from different departments such as audit and tax. Or when the weather permits it, go on a walk along the canal or in Stephens green. I usually finish up the day around 5:30pm and I'm home just before 6:30pm. In the evenings I try to get out to play sport or go on a walk after being in the office for the day.
